Myth Writing

For the past few weeks we have been working on Myths and Legends and being able to create our own Myth. We found out that Myths mainly focus around explaining Natural Phenomenons, so we had to choose a natural phenomenon. Then we had to choose a main God-like character and give them names. Here is mine. 

Writing Argument

We have been focusing around argument writing for the past week and making sure it has Strong adjectives and an emotionally toys with the viewers heart strings. For our topic we did "Should Children be aloud cellphones" We rounded the age to Under 13 and then got started I decided NO children shouldn't be aloud phones while others said yes. Here is my cellphone argument. 

Should Children have Cell Phones?

Do you want your children addicted to a mobile device screen from such a young age, killing their child life and imagination and

only interacting with devices? Well…  I think NO, your child needs the right amount of exercise, a healthy life and to be able to

communicate to others. 

Firstly Exercise, As a kid exercise and playing is a big thing that parents want them to continue through

till secondary school.  BUT… with a device your child will adjust to be all antisocial revolving around

their life and consuming all of their time. Quitting out of school activities and sport, And…  one of the

BIGGEST parent expectations of completing school work well that will be reinstated with social media

and other useless time wasting apps. 

Secondly your child's health, They get less sleep, a negative impact on their mental health

,it also impedes their limit to learn and use their ingenious mind and constructs a behavioural

problem and an addiction towards the phone.The World Health Organisation have shared with us that using

cellphones have increased the number of brain cancer because of electrical impulses from devices.Imagine your child

with Brain cancer a lifetime sickness! 

How would you feel if you were trying to communicate to your child and they are constantly ignoring you and on their device? Well there are other ways to communicate and sometimes the person is right in front of them and they IGNORE them for their device which is utterly DEPRESSING because they will end up with absolutely NO friends . Parents and Family it confines your time together because they are constantly listening to or playing on their phone. Is that something you really want? Because if you don’t stop this then your child will be an adult before you realise and  you will regret the lousy choice you made.  

What do you think? Would you get your kid a phone under the age of 13 because their friends have one or they want it badly. WIthout a Phone you could have a Healthy social child who commits  to sports and other activities. With a phone an Antisocial , Unhealthy and unfit child… Is that what you want!? 

Writing Challenges

This week we have started a new activity called Miss H's Writing challenges every day we have a new challenge to complete using different words and grammar. This week we have done 2 activities. The first one includes 'a' or 'an' , there are 6 sentences with gaps and we have to fill in the gaps with 'a' or 'an'. The Second Activity Contractions and completing them. 

Diary Entry

For literacy today with our Boy in The striped Pyjamas topic, we had to write a diary entry from Bruno's point of view. I decided to make mine look like an old diary entry.

Acrostic Poems

WALT: Write an Acrostic poem 

Acrostic poem: This week for Writing we have been focusing on writing an Acrostic poem. We each had to write 3 and it had to be something about us. I did it on the 3 sports I do Swimming, Tennis and Netball.

End Of Term Reflection

This Term was awesome because we had rippa rugby and we won it and now Greymain Blue gets to go to Wellington. Also this term we got to Meet Kendra Cocksedge from the Black Ferns and Honor and I got a Photo and someone told her that Ruby Tui was my Favorite player so she took a photo on her phone with us and sent it to Ruby Tui.  This Term we did Art and it was Robert Delauney we have done Painting and Shapes my favorite was painting also it got put up in the hall. Also I really liked doing our Power Writing where we got to write about whatever we wanted for 15 minutes if you want to see my writing it will be on my weekly Reflections. Next Term We could work on starting the day earlier because it take us 10 minutes to settle down and do the Roll. Here is a Photo of Kendra, Honor and I 

Week 9 Literacy Reflection

Word Work 

Meaning

Vengeance - Punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong.  

Reservoir - The Large natural or artificial lake as a source of water supply.

Righteous - Morally right or justifiable.

Saboteur - A person who engages in sabotage

Scrupulously - In a very careful and thorough way.

Occurrence - An incident or event.

Pantomime - a theatrical entertainment, mainly for children, which involves music, topical jokes, and slapstick comedy and is based on a fairy tale or nursery story, usually produced around Christmas - Christmas is a time where family gets together and Santa comes and delivers presents.

Refuge - The state of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger or difficulty.

Predecessor - A person who held a job or office before the current holder

Marvelous - Causing great wonder; extraordinary

Commercial - concerned with or engaged in commerce

Photograph - A picture made using a camera, in which is an image is focused on to light sensitive material and then made visible and permanent by chemical treatment or stored digitally

Authority- The Power or right to give orders.

Humorous - Causing laughter and amusement.

Writing Camp Reflection

Intro

2 Weeks ago Mamaku 1 went on camp to Westport on the 6-8 of March. We stayed at the University of Canterbury where we had delicious meals cooked by the parents. We also went to many places like Charleston gold mine, Nile River, The Seal colony and Deniston and lots more.

Paragraph 1 - What

Westport camp 2017 was a fun camp where we got to go to lots of different places. We stayed at a nicely cleaned place and the parents cooked us delicious meals.

On Westport camp we went to The Seal Colony , Nile River , Deniston and The Aquatic centre and Museums. We also stayed at the University of Canterbury which was a nice place with enough room for everyone.

Literacy Reflection T4 W6

Word work: This week for Word work I did blue vowels where you had to put all the vowels ( AEIOU ) in blue. 

Work on Writing: This week for Work on Writing since there was an earthquake we did our writing on the earthquake. 

Reading follow up : For our Reading follow up we had to make an Explanation burger of Why do we have Wisdom Teeth? and after that we had to make a word cloud and use the key words. 

Literacy Reflection T4 W4

Word work: This week for word work we have been fixing up our word work spreadsheet so we can have all our activities and words all tidy. For my activity this week I had to do ABC Order which is ordering all your spelling words in a google drawing. I also learnt that a description can be a piece of paper that you pay for at a pharmacy to get medicine every month. 




Work on Writing / Myths and Legends:This week for Work on Writing we started a new topic called Myths and Legends. We had to do complete activities and these are the activities I have done. I learnt that a Myth can be about a Mythical creature. 

Reading: This week for Reading we just carried on with doing this if we hadn't completed it in W3 (Which I hadn't because i was away). I am learning to recognize what the author's purpose is for their writing.
